Done: Market Research – iOS/android spy AR apps, Tested Ingress, conducted Design Research – 1950’s Spy aesthetics/Mikes Images/Sin City; conducted narrative research – watched sin city/catch me if you can titles/1984 (1955 production)/and a new series based in Poland called 1983.

Doing: style guide 02 and design sketches for an interactive game object CCTV camera with rig, flashing light and code for use in Unity AR project when needed.

Blockers: confirm – App Name, App Narrative, App User Stories (demographic)

They are beautiful, dark and a little sinister.. (and I love the hooded figure idea) but..

Do we want to go for the techie aesthetic and if we do can we justify it in some way?

Is this far enough away from ingress?

Sin City has a comic book aesthetic which could work great when viewed on a small screen such as an Apple watch…

I think the Sin City graphics will work better on small screens…

GAM730 Week 04:05 Design Research



The original style was too futuristic and too literal. I thought about how to create an aesthetic that would be classic spy/espionage/political themed and could be easily read on an Apple Watch, projected on on the side of a building or floating in real space.

 

GAM730 Week 04:02 Internet Access Blocker

Our internet outage was disrupted for 48 hours because someone severed the fibre optic cable that feeds the gigaclear broadband to Rutland and the surrounding villages (including Ours). I intended to create a prototype on Adobe XD but this only works on my desktop and not my mobile devices.

To work round the issue, I created a walkthrough video on Adobe Rush on my iPad as I knew that I could export to premier pro at a later date. This will be helpful when producing a pitch video.

Although I produced the walkthrough video in  Rush, I was kicked out of my login before It completed the export. This happened because the Adobe Creative cloud subscription connects via an internet connection.

To work round this I used a simple video editor on my p.c and then used my mobile phone as a hotspot. I was then able to upload the walkthrough video in time for the Tuesday evening meeting.

Next, I will use the stills from this video to create a prototype in Adobe XD. When this can be done is reliant on a good internet connection to my desktop imac. I have a sketch Wireframe to work with so I will just be a matter of adding functional buttons etc.
