GAM730 Week 01:05 Farmville meets Daisyworld

Today I have been thinking about FarmVille an what it might be like to play it if the characters and climate influenced the game dynamics?

Farmville has a ‘time to crop life’ dynamic but it appears to have nothing on the scale of daisyworld which is designed to simulate the ecology evident in life on Earth.

The Daisyworld model was first proposed and implemented by Lovelock and Andrew Watson. The original Gaia hypothesis is due to Lovelock.

GAM730 week 01:02 Images from the recesses of a mind

App Jam 2

Police

Withdrawal

Difficult

Police… To police and control… To get a crowd to withdraw (break their spirit)…
To make it difficult for the crowd to riot, impose obedience and take control (game mechanic).

Or

Police… as representative of state Power and Control… to make it difficult for power to control and force crowd to withdrawal or alternatively the crowd could withdraw support in order that they could take control.

I am interested in Non violent mechanisms of control for the purpose of subversion.

Starting with police, policing and the abuse of power…

REFLECTION

One thing I’ve noticed is that when set a creative challenge my mind works extremely fast as I start spinning ideas, flipping them on their head in the ideation process.

This can be problematic when working with others who are more technically minded, maybe because of the fastidiousness of their work and thought processes.

However, as a creative it is really valuable to bounce ideas off others, even if a few of them are questionable (third richt and torture!) but no idea is a bad idea in this stage of the game.

As my focus is on unity and iterating white box models and user testing in this project, I threw open a technical question to everyone regarding the Nintendo Switch and its use as a VR headset. Dom advised that Playstation VR might be a better way to go as the Nintendo is more of a toy but Playstation development licences and prototype development can be expensive.

I am looking to invest in some hardware which may well require funding a PC with a GTX1080 i7 as the bare minimum. This will need some further investigation.

Ideally I would like to develop XR experience projects with great VR and AR interaction. I would also like to submit my final project to annecy Cinematic VR category. As this was supported by spotlight stories last year but they have pulled the plug on this project I am now looking at Unity VR film making.
